Bankoku shinwa. (Lager image 033-003)

The first edition was printed in 1789. Our copy was printed later for Fujiya Yahe of Osaka, who purchased the woodblocks in 1800. It uses foreign geographic books and other means to describe foreign affairs. It only contains the information on Asian countries with the other sections not being published. Volume 4 records the activities of the Hamada Yahyoe and his brother in Formosa (Taiwan), such as the incarceration of P. Nuyts, as the "Wise and courageous acts of the Hamada Brothers."
