Filmed record of the Amazonia Industrial Research Center

This moving image is made up of excerpts from DVD to which an advertisement film produced by the Amazonia Industrial Research Center, "Dai Amazon o Hiraku" (Reclaiming the great Amazon), and other 16mm films were converted by the owner of the films, Dr. Yoshiro Uetsuka (contained in the Papers of Yoshiro Uetsuka).
The moving image offered a scene of the second survey team, the leader of which Tsukasa Uetsuka was, navigating up the Amazon River in 1930, a view of Parintins from the ship, scenes of a settlement festival from Vila Amazonia (on October 21, 1930), a pillar erecting ceremony, a tree felling ceremony, slash-and-burn forest clearing, reclamation, and seed sowing with a "planta makina" (a seed planting tool), a view of Vila Amazonia from the weather station (shot in 1937), scnenes of Mitsuru Toyama's inspection of the Nippon Koto Takushoku Gakko (Japan Colonization School) (Mitsuru Toyama, Tsukasa Uetsuka and others), the Nippon Koto Takushoku Gakko (Japan Colonization School) (sumo, agricultural work), Kotaku (Kokushikan Koto Takushoku Gakko (Kokushikan Colonization School)) graduates and their wives, and the departure of the Takushoku 3rd entering class of Kotaku graduates.
